- Take a tasting tour through the history of chocolate from an Aztec ceremonial drink to fine European style chocolate bars. Cacao's deep roots in the history of the Caribbean coast of Costa Rica are explored through to the unique gourmet bean-to-bar chocolate process. The Chocolate Forest Experience leads you through a sustainable permaculture farm where volunteers and staff are restoring cacao and other trees to the forest in a balanced and ecoclogical way. Enjoy an informative hike through the cacao forest while learning of the history and science of chocolate. Then, indulge in all you can eat with an amazing view of the Caribbean. Tours are led regularly Tuesdays and Thursdays at 10:30 am and 3:00 pm, otherwise call or email for a reservation. The Chocolate Forest Experience tour is about two hours, and costa $26 USD.
