Description:

Turrialba National Park remains one of the least visited cultural hubs of the country. The Turrialba Volcano sits at 10,919 ft (3,328 m) along the southeast end of the Central Volcanic Corridor. On a clear day, the views from the sumit encompass nearly 4000 acres of mountainous rain forest, stretching to the east coast and including other volcanoes, such as Poas and Irazu in the vista. The city of Turrialba is a great starting point for many activities since it is located approximately 44 miles (71 km) east of San Jose. From there the national park is just a short drive away, and visiting the volcano is a highly recommended activity.  To access the park on your own, a 4WD is suggested, and admission to the park is approximately $7.
