• A half-hour's drive on the Dublin-Galway road (N4) delivers you to this grand Georgian mansion and inn, where the lavishly decorated, candlelit restaurant is surprisingly intimate. Elegance is the operative word here, and dishes tend to be rich and delicious: roast quail, baked plaice stuffed with shrimp, grilled sea trout, and steaks, all with fresh vegetables from the manor's garden, and are all memorable. Service is excellent, and the desserts are worth saving room for. Rooms in this grand mansion (€220 double/€250 minisuite) are as luscious as the food.
