  • Our Top 10 List of Outdoor Activities in Cozumel includes ways and places to enjoy fresh air and open spaces. These include options for different level of fitness, and most of these activities come just as active or relaxed as you'd like.

Our Top 10 Outdoor Activities on this island, full of natural wonders, begins at Parque Punta Sur. This lush park has something for everyone. It is full of wildlife, has a lagoon for bird watching, a pristine beach for lounging, great diving and snorkeling, and a nearby Mayan ruin, El Caracol, for exploring. It's a one-stop nature connection.

Our next choice won the number two spot because it is such an exhilarating way of converging with the islands most wondrous elements: the sea and the wind. Besides, Raul is an amazing teacher and a great islander to know. This is the most strenuous choice on our list, but if you have not tried kiteboarding yet, this is the place to do it.

Our third choice was easy, because Cozumel is about diving and Aqua Safari is the best bunch of divers to learn from and hang out with.

Our Top 10 List for Cozumel also includes a trip to a nearby island, Isla de Pasion, which has a powdery beach and lots of adventure sports to partake in; the Mayan ruins of San Gervasio to spend hours exploring and learning the history of the island; El Mirador, a natural, rock sculpture that's fun for climbing and looking out over the water; and Rancho Buenavista, which offers island tours on horseback.

The seventh and ninth positions are dominated by beaches - Punta Morena and Playa de San Martin. The former is a rough shore that is the best place on the island for surfing and boogie boarding. The latter is a calmer beach that is a nesting ground for turtles.

The last but, as any golfer will tell you, not least activity/place on the list is a 18-hole golf course, but that's not why we chose it. It is teeming with local wildlife, is an Audubon sanctuary, and offers birding tours. What more could you ask for?
