Dia de los Santos Reyes

Description:

  • January 6 is when Mexicans exchange Christmas presents. Instead of Santa Claus, it is the Three Kings who deliver the presents to children. Throughout the city there are neighborhood parties where the children gather together to show off their gifts, and the special sweet cake with preserved fruit on top is served. Inside the cake are tiny figures of the baby Jesus and whoever gets the baby must throw a party for everyone eating the cake. This holiday marks the end of the Christmas season. In Cozumel, there is music and a carnival in the Plaza Central.
