Description:
- Due to the damage caused by Hurricane Wilma, the following description may no longer be accurate. Please consider this when making your travel plans. This is the first day of Dia de Muertos (Day of the Dead) celebrations. At 3p on the 31st of October, 'angelitos' (angels who used to be baptized children) come home to visit their loved ones. To help them find their way, paths are strewn with marigolds and since they are hungry after their journey, special food is prepared. Pan de Muerto (sweet bread with skulls on top), tamales, chocolate and sugar skulls are laid out on a welcoming altar. The angelitos depart the next day by 2p, making room for other relations to visit.
