Description:

  • San Miguel was named after construction workers unearthed a statue of the Archangel on September 29th, his feast day. Thought to date back to 1518, the ivory statue shows St. Michael in his classic winged warrior pose, holding a gold sword and wearing a gold crown. The statue is on display at the Iglesia de San Miguel. Celebrations last the entire week. The feast starts off with processions through the street to the church for special masses. The celebrations continue with a rodeo and carnival ending with fireworks and music in the Plaza Central.
