Where is the best place for shallow snorkeling? I'll be staying in Riviera Maya in March, but plan on going to Cozumel for a day or two.

Cozumel, without a doubt!
Palancar, located near Cozumel, is the world second largest coral reef.

Most great snorkeling spots require a boat guide, and you can hire one for about $30 U.S. A great place to snorkel is Columbia Shallows, gotten to by boat. Otherwise, the North end of the island offers a small reef right off the beach. You can explore this near Hotel Playa Azul.
