NileGuide Expert tip:
One local enthusiast declared with conviction that La Chupiteria's Ying Yang shot, a concoction comprised of vodka, kahlua, coffee, lime and sugar is the best drink on the menu.
The combined names of this downtown establishment say it all: La Chupiteria, a place to chupar (suck back alcohol) and The Shot Bar, literally one single bar (no tables) that predominantly serves up shots. A sanctuary for the alcohol connoisseur and for the novice bartender waiting to be unleashed, one can choose from one of the many original shot concoctions, or get creative and craft your own. Providing flaming shots, a handful of 'long drinks' (mixed drinks), a shot of the week and tea and coffee (combined, of course, with a shot), La Chupiteria has all the makings of the start of an unforgettable and perchance regrettable night. Decorated with immense murals of El Che putting back unidentified alcohols, the establishment certainly specializes in alcohol, yet manages to throw out some culinary offerings like pizza and Thai food as well. Open from 7pm until late seven days a week.
