Picanteria Ruinas

  • Description:

    • Picarones are Peru's version of the doughnut, and are one of the favored deserts nationwide. Made of a sweet potato batter, fried and topped off with chancaca, a molasses syrup, they are more traditionally from the coast but can be found in all corners of Peru. In Cusco, the Picanteria Ruinas, located at the corner of Calle Ruinas and Calle Choquechaca are home to the best picarones in the region. A heaping portion of four picarones is best shared with at least one other friend. Popular amongst local Cusqueños, they are open all week in the late afternoons and evenings.
