Description:

  • This village is on the left hand side of the Huatanay river, 13 kilometers from Cusco. Its inhabitants are healers and shamens, as it is the capital of healing in the Andes. They mix a traditional Christian faith with one concentrating on the power of the Earth itself. The people here profess to read your future in coca leaves, and will give offerings to Mother Earth on your behalf. From Huasao, you can do a circuit around all of the colonial haciendas (wealthy farms): Callapujio, Chingo Bajo, La Florida, Carmelina, Turpu. This is also a popular place to mountain bike. Transport: 6am-5pm daily
