Bus: The airport operates a shuttle bus that is timed with flight arrivals. The airport bus stops include the Shahekou Railway Station, Wuyi Square and Victory Square. The fare is CNY5. Additional city bus lines that run to the airport include 516, 532, 610, 701, 710. Lines 701 and 710 go through downtown Dalian. Public buses are CNY1 and minibuses are CNY2. Exact change is necessary.

Passenger Port is on Wuwu Lu and has regular boats leaving for Yantai, Weihai, Tianjin, Penglai, Qinhuangdao and Changhai County. International destinations include Incheon, Korea. Ships can also accommodate private cars.
Getting Around:
Bus: In addition to city-wide bus service that is affordable (CNY1) and efficient, there are Special Tourist buses that stop at various places of interest, including outside the city center. These buses have a different fare structure than regular city buses, ranging from CNY2-5 per ride. Bus 801 goes through the southeastern part of the city. Bus 801(B) starts at the Passenger Port and goes through downtown to the southwest part of the city. Bus 901 starts in the southwest, goes through downtown and then northwards. These three lines are the most popular tourist routes.
Tram: Dalian's tram dates back to the Japanese occupation of the early 1900s. It has been preserved for historical as well as functional purposes as it serves the nerve center of downtown. Three tram lines run through downtown: routes 201, 202, and 203.
Light Rail: The northern part of the city up to the Economic and Technology Development Zone is accessible by the light rail. The downtown terminus is near the Dalian Railway Station and extends 50 kilometers (31 miles) to Jinshatan (Golden Pebble) Beach. Trains run at 20 minute intervals between 6a and 6:30p. A single trip costs CNY8.

Taxis charge ¥8 ($1.05/50p) for the first 3km (2 miles), then ¥2 (25¢/15p) per kilometer; it's 30% extra from 10pm to 5am. Regular buses (without air-conditioning) cost ¥1 (15¢/10p), air-conditioned and minibuses cost ¥2 (25¢/15p); pay as you get on. Bus no. 801 runs the length of Zhongshan Lu and Renmin Dajie. A tour bus takes visitors around the city from the south side of Dalian Railway Station South Square to Zhongshan Guangchang (every 30 min.; 1 1/2 hr.; ¥10/$1.30/65p). Real Japanese-built trolleys go from Erqi Guangchang in the east to Xinghai Gongyuan in the southwest.
