Description:
The best and most stylish restaurant in town stands in a half-timbered building with a heavily carved facade, rising on the harbor front. The cookery is both innovative and well executed, more akin to the creative cuisine of the Continent than the traditional food of England. Michelin-starred Chef John Burton-Race has moved into town, awakening the sleepy local taste buds. Fish is brought in from the local boats and purchased from Devon fishermen. Burton-Race creates his menu from the best and freshest produce of the day. Redolent of rich, subtly intermingled flavors are such dishes as roasted breast of duckling with poached white peaches or braised Dartmouth lobster with a tomato-and-basil-butter sauce.
The New Angel also offers accommodations -- six well-furnished and quite comfortable bedrooms, including one suite, from £130 to £150 ($260-$300) a night.
