This smart and hip eatery adjoins the Tattered Cover bookstore and an art cinema, and is a good pick for lunch or dinner east of downtown. With black-and-white tiled floors, great happy-hour deals, and excellent service, Encore is a nice fit for a variety of options, from vegetarian (falafel burgers) to carnivorous (black-pepper crusted rib-eye). In between are great appetizers, wood-fired pizzas, mussels, pastas, and big salads. To finish, the house carrot cake is a delectable dessert in a pumpkin pie-like guise.
