- Restaurant Montecito is named after the little village on the outskirts of Santa Barbara California where Julia Child spent the last days of her life. The Restaurant is the creation of Janie Master who together with her husband, Mel, also own Mel's in Cherry Creek, Denver and who created Jams of New York in the 1980's with Jonathan Waxman. The chef is the extremely talented Adam Mali who was previously executive chef at Ajax Tavern in Aspen and before that owned Restaurant Kody in Evergreen. He also worked at Gary Danko and Delfina, top restaurants in San Francisco. His food is the light Californian preparation with touches of Provence and Italy, focusing on the best produce available.Montecito is a warm and welcoming restaurant with terrific service, incredible food and exciting wines chosen my Mel Master who has worked in the wine business for 30 years.
