  • Like every great American city, Detroit has a variety of foods and fine restaurants. Whether you're downtown or in the surrounding neighborhoods, there are a lot of options to choose from.

    One of Detroit's specialties includes Square Pizza, which is rectangular, has a deep-dish crust, and toppings under the sauce. You can find Square Pizza at many pizza joints in Detroit, including Buddy's Pizzeria. Buddy's has restaurants in neighborhoods all over greater Detroit area.

    If you're in the mood for Middle Eastern food, you're in the right place. Detroit is a fantastic place to eat baklava, falafel, hummus, shwarma, and other Middle Eastern specialties, especially since Detroit, and especially Dearborn, has the largest Arab population in America. Try New Yasmeen Bakery or La Shish.

    For a fine, more expensive dining experience, head to The Lark in West Bloomfield. One of the best in Detroit, you'll enjoy the peaceful setting, sophisticated décor ("that of an elegant southern European country inn"), French dishes, and extensive wine list.
