Getting There

The best way to reach Dijon is by driving. From Paris, follow A6 southeast to Pouilly-en-Auxois, and then go east along A38 into Dijon. Dijon also has excellent rail and bus connections to the rest of Europe. A total of 4 TGV trains arrive from Paris's Gare de Lyon each day (trip time: 1 hr., 45 min.); the one-way fare is 52€ ($75). Trains arrive from Lyon every hour (trip time: 2 hr.; 25€/$36 one-way). For information, call tel. 08-92-35-35-35.

Visitor Information

The Office de Tourisme is at Place Darcy (tel. 08-92-70-05-58; www.dijon-tourism.com).

Special Events

Between the end of June and the beginning of August, the streets of Dijon experience a lively renaissance when Estivade (tel. 03-80-74-51-95) comes to town. The festival uses the city's streets as a stage for folk dances, music, and theater. It's always a big hit. You can get a schedule of events from the city tourist office or La Mairie (the town hall; tel. 03-80-74-51-51).
