- Disneyland – specifically Disneyland Park – is one of the most popular tourist destinations in the world. No visit to Los Angeles would be complete without a quick thirty minute drive to Disneyland in neighboring Orange County. Situated near Disney's newer California Adventure and Downtown Disney, Disneyland entertains audiences young and old with characters from Disney's animated library. Opened in 1955, Disneyland has welcomed over 500 million visitors, 14 million of them alone in 2007. Inside, visitors can find enough rides, attractions and parades to overload anyone's senses. (Be sure to take advantage of the Fast Pass system which allows you to reserve a spot in line on the more popular rides.)
Disneyland stands as a tribute to 1950s entertainment that is as pertinent then as it is now. It gets crowded during the summer and on weekends, so an off-season or midweek trip will result in a more enjoyable environment.
