John Dickinson Plantation

Description:

  • The home of John Dickinson, one of Delaware's foremost statesmen of the Revolutionary and Federal periods, a few miles outside the historic district, was originally built in 1740. Destroyed by fire in 1804, the brick house was rebuilt in 1896. Guides dressed in period clothing give visitors a glimpse of the daily life of the Dickinson family, tenants, and slaves.
