• Edging past Shahrzad (below) as Dubai's best Iranian restaurant, Shabestan combines authentic cuisine with Persian hospitality. A power lunch spot by day, this fanciful restaurant inside the Radisson SAS Hotel transforms into a romantic retreat come night. The gracious staff welcomes you to an exotic dining room reminiscent of a sultan's palace, and the view of the Dubai Creek and live Persian music in the evening add to the restaurant's enchantment. Lamb is the centerpiece of the award-winning food, and I strongly recommend ordering the chelow kebab with marinated lamb and a large helping of saffron rice. The carefully prepared fish kebabs are equally delicious. Hot flatbread and a generous plate of raw vegetables and feta cheese accompany all selections. Ask for a table with a view of the creek, and expect to spend at least a couple hours here savoring the experience.
