Dubai's version of Venice, Madinat Jumeirah exemplifies the emirate's role as a fantasyland in the Arabian desert. Its beautiful though artificial souk replicates an ancient Middle Eastern marketplace with winding alleys and handsome boutiques selling Arabian art, sweets, jewelry, and upscale souvenirs. The bazaar includes 75 shops and galleries, and more than 20 waterfront cafes, restaurants, and bars. Items are far more expensive here than at Dubai's traditional souks in the old town, but it's worth visiting just to window-shop and enjoy the extraordinary scenery. Open daily 10am to 11pm.
