Italian Corner

• Dining out in Dublin is not, on the whole, a wallet-friendly experience; finding a reasonably priced eatery in the city center can require stamina. Those who stumble upon The Italian Corner, however, need stumble no further, and the real surprise is that it is located exactly where a good-value restaurant would be least likely found, between the tourist hub of Temple Bar and the river. On a summer's evening, the setting sun streams through large waterfront windows, bathing the curious murals and Mediterranean décor in a golden light. And while the menu will win no prizes for originality, the food is well-prepared, the portions hearty, and the cost modest. - Gareth Thornton
