• The event starts with a night parade winding its way through the city. Be prepared for fire-breathing monsters, giants and creatures of the night, as the parade offers a heady mixture of bands, pageants, carnival costumes and pageantry. If you feel like joining in, take part in the Monster Céili in St Stephen's Green. It is arguably Ireland's biggest street-theatre carnival, with an impressive fireworks display round up the events.
