Wondering into this emporium of sound, customers are likely to be greeted by a chaotic carnival of notes: plinking pianos, strumming guitars and whistling flutes amongst others. A vast range of instrumentation, accessories and sheet music is available, and management is relaxed when it comes to sampling the merchandise (they even provide soundproof booths and amplifiers for budding guitar heroes). Staff are friendly and knowledgeable, and the school above offers a broad range of beginner lessons from traditional and classical to jazz and rock. – Gareth Thornton
