• A heated legal battle between landlord and the old tenant over the real meaning of the term 'decent upstanding citizen' ended in the swift termination of the previous lease. It seems that the tenant had attempted to establish a quite unconventional bar for 'artists' and Düsseldorf's gay scene in this old fashioned local which offended the owner's idea of 'good sense'. Now, the atmosphere is quite different, offering 'decent upstanding' food in accordance with local traditions. This new pub and restaurant does come across as very professional, offering typical local wholesome meals such as Rheinland 'Sauerbraten' (braised beef) with raisin sauce and potato dumplings.
