Julia Stoschek Collection

Description:

  • With an emphasis on video installations, the Julia Stoschek Collection is a must for all those interested in contemporary international art. Although a private collection, the gallery is open to the public on Saturdays from 11am to 6pm. Housed in an old factory in a courtyard, the building was completely gutted and refurbished in 2007 to provide a completely modern gallery on two floors with a small cinema in the basement. The gallery's rooms are of different dimensions and of varied light intensities. Look through the kaleidoscopic windowed wall in one of the rooms, and you'll be able to see the surrounding streets in kaleidoscope form. Tours of 90 minutes at 11am and 2pm (in German) by the gallery's very knowledgeable and enthusiastic staff are available on alternate Saturdays. Tours in English are available by email request. Admission is free for children and seniors. -Adrienne Fullerton
