• This was one of the first Irish theme pubs to open in Edinburgh and remains one of the largest. It is situated right in the heart of the drinking den of the Grassmarket area. Expect a lively atmosphere during the evening when the large circular bar is swamped. Prepare to be patient, as it's sometimes difficult to get served. During term time it is packed with students and at weekends the crowd is a raucous mixture of the shirt and shoes brigade, rugby types and party groups. Lunchtimes are more civilized and there is a good choice of food to take into the beer garden.
