What good is yesterday's news? For the latest and greatest of Edinburgh's nightlife spots, check out these updated bars and clubs. It's all current, as fresh as the beats and the just-cut lime garnishes. Yeah, you're hip to it.
Espionage, Edinburgh's Top Nightclub, Bar and Event Venue can be found just off the Grassmarket and in the shadow of Edinburgh Castle. It's a thriving labyrinth of clubbing activity spread over five floors, with a superb range of music and drinks on each. We're open every night of the week, 365 days a year.
Located below Cafe Rouge, Po Na Na shamelessly changes its character as the evening progresses. It begins as an after-work debrief, wind-down and drink-up joint, and progresses into an ever sweatier dance venue. The music varies from funky house on Saturdays to 80s, 90s and dance on Mondays.
Check out Cas Rock if you appreciate the hidden talents of more obscure bands. Squeeze into the tight space and slam and mosh to the sounds. Other than hosting some mediocre acts, this is also one of the places to hear some of the area's most exciting new musical efforts. Be prepared for a loud, sticky and dark evening.
The Three Sisters offers four different bars: A Gothic section, an American bar with pitchers and shooters, an Irish bar with confessional booths and Guinness, and the outdoor courtyard, where barbecues take place in the summer. The dance venue upstairs makes it a popular choice for stag and hen parties. The pub is named after three sisters said to have stayed here and performed at the Tailor's Hall.
