Description:

  • Housed in a University Halls of Residence for the busy summer months of July and August, this hostel provides Edinburgh visitors with budget single-room accommodation. As the name suggests, its location is an ideal base to explore the city and is worth considering if attending the Edinburgh International Festival. It is clean and there are adequate amenities, including a self-catering kitchen and laundry facilities. There's no need to bring a sheet or sleeping bag as all linen is provided. It may not have the charm and character of other hostels but it at least gives the residents a secure, personal space free from dormitory woes like the orchestra of snorers and late arrivals rummaging in rucksacks. Reception opens at 2pm.

A licenced Café / Bistro is available to guests and visitors alike. Open to all between 10am until 9pm (11am weekends), serving a wide range of delicious hot and cold snacks.

In addition, the 70-seater full-service Bistro is open from 7.30 for Breakfast then serving light and main meals from 10am (11am weekends). Food ranges from traditional Scotch recipes to more European inspired dishes, all at exceptional prices.

Large plasma screens can be found throughout the main public areas of the hostel, showing live television, promotional videos and announcements. Wi-fi coverage is available throughout the hostel for guests with their own laptops whilst 6 coin-operated internet stations are also available on the ground floor.

Other domestic facilities in the hostel include a laundry and drying room, which has three computerised washers and dryers. You can now store your luggage in the Super Safe coin lockers in the lobby for 50p per hour. £16- Beds; £34-Single rooms; £51-Twin rooms
