Description:
- Location. The Minto Hotel is located in Edinburgh, Scotland, in the genteel suburb of Newington, in the lee of Arthur's Seat and one mile south of Princes street and Edinburgh city centre.
Hotel Features. Originally two Georgian townhouses, The Minto Hotel has been sensitively refurbished to retain many original period features and overlooks beautifully maintained gardens. Amenities include limited-hours room service and complimentary parking. The hotel's function room is available for conferences.
Open daily for lunch and dinner, The Minto Hotel's restaurant serves classic dishes with a modern twist in an intimate atmosphere created with low lighting and music. The Polo Lounge is decorated in soft creams and browns and features mood lighting and a large outside terrace. It serves modern bar lunches and suppers and has a well- stocked bar and wide-screen television for sporting events. The hotel offers a complimentary full-English breakfast.
Guestrooms. There are 22 rooms on two floors featuring modern furniture, decor in warm tones and crisp, white cotton bedding. All rooms have flatscreen televisions and coffee and tea-making facilities.
Expert Tip. Newington started life as an Edinburgh suburb built to house the burgeoning nouveaux riche of the early 1800s. There are lots of Georgian townhouses that were originally home to lawyers, bankers and merchants, but it's now a lively, student area with lots of pubs and restaurants. Places worth a visit include the Jewish Cemetery at Sciennes House Place.;;

We chose this hotel as it was a couple of hundered metres from where our son is newly installed in a flat. On check in on Friday evening we were met by the decibels of a disco in full...
