- Edinburgh Zoo has cafeteria and kiosks to tempt children with snacks. But next door to Stripes cafeteria, is the Mansion House with its members restaurant. This is the place to eat in comfort and style. You Dont Have To Be A Member! Ignore the Baronial appearance of the building. Eating at the Mansion House is casual and families are made very welcome. I would be very surprised if you did not encounter other families eating in the restaurant during the summer months. At first sight it might look a tad formal. But surely you would rather have your children eating proper food, sat at a clean table with cutlery and proper glasses than grazing off paper plate?. Its also significantly less raucous in the dining room than next door in the cafe and you have a chance to discuss the sights of the zoo over lunch. There is a daily menu with specials, as well as a children's menu offering the usual favourites; chicken nuggets, sausage and mash, a pasta dish and of course pizza. For older children, options include fish and chips, a burger, or fresh sandwiches are available. Prices are very reasonable compared to other city attractions - No Disney prices here. Usually only open for lunch and worth checking that the dining room is not booked for a function.
