Description:

  • Despite its "colorful" name, this canyon is a paradise for those who love wild flowers and want to experience the blanket of blooms, which usually cover the nearby hills each spring. This excursion, sponsored by the San Diego County Parks & Recreation Department, is a great opportunity to learn about the area, its flora, and the techniques involved in taking terrific still-life photographs. The excursion starts at the trailhead parking lot. Remember to bring your own camera and lots of water. Free admission; call for possible time changes or large groups.
