• On Oct. 10, 2002, Snow Summit Ski Corporation, owner of Snow Summit Mountain Resort (Snow Summit) located in Big Bear Lake, California, finalized its purchase of neighboring Big Bear Mountain Resort (Bear Mountain) from Booth Creek Ski Holdings, Inc. The two resorts, located just one mile apart, will be jointly marketed under the entity referred to as "Big Bear Mountain Resorts." As a result, Big Bear Mountain Resort will revert to its former name of Bear Mountain Resort.

  Bear Mountain will be oriented more toward the youthful freestyle skiers and snowboarders whereas Snow Summit will cater more to families with children and mainstream skiers and snowboarders. Snow Summit and Bear Mountain will continue to offer the highest quality products and services to both skiers and snowboarders.

  The resorts are approximately one mile apart and are located in the San Bernardino Mountains, a 1-3 hour drive from most Southern California locations.

  Snow Summit is still the place where you can link turns on rolling groomers, attack heart-pounding steeps or try your luck in the freestyle park. Summit will focus its operations more toward mainstream skiers, snowboarders, and families with children. This new plan doesn't mean Snow Summit will completely lose its appeal to the freestyle scene. By continuing to build the world famous top-to-bottom Westridge Park (with beginner through advanced terrain features and jibs), Summit still offers one of the best freestyle opportunities in all of North America. The Family Park will also remain as popular as ever with two runs dedicated as "Fun Zones" to include small jumps and rolls for children and beginners.

  Big Bear Mountain Resorts is Southern California's only four-season mountain resort. Summer attractions include Snow Summit Scenic Sky Chair and Bear Mountain Resort Golf Course where fun on the fairways is enjoyed at an elevation of 7,000 feet.
