- Going down? The hill at Lone Tree and J.W. Powell is steep and fast! Even though it's located just off the campus of Northern Arizona University, very few people have discovered it. Parking is free and the lot is just a snowball's throw away from the hill. The Mobil gas station on Lake Mary Road is a great place to get snow gear, sleds, and snacks. And it's on the way to this fabulous sledding area. There are no restroom facilities within walking distance, so empty your tanks at the Mobil before you arrive.
