Well we are in Florence, what other types of foods will you taste? Italian of course. The top ten Italian restaurants is not all of them of course. There are many, many more Italian cuisine venues that are not one my top ten list. However these are the places I suggest to indulge in for your first trip here.
Vinaino di Parte Guelfa is a small panino(sandwich) shop in the city center near Piazza Repubblica. The food is very Tuscan, very Italian where you can find cinghiale and porchetta. The cheese from the region and the wine that flows down the hatch with ease. The Chianti wine that is served from a chilled wall fridge that displays the favorite wines of Tuscany. A place to chat, to eat and to absorb the true Italian life.
Although owned by a Hungarian, Borgo Antico serves the most delicious pizzas. The meals are served fast and with care. Sitting on Piazza Santo Spirito, Borgo Antico allows you to people watch from the outside cafe. Piazza Santo Spirito is very lively in the summer months with festivals and markets. In the evening the young people bring it to life.
Trattoria da Giorgio is typical Italian with reasonable prices to match. There are great specials of the day and the evening menu is 10 euro for 3 courses and wine or water. It is a simple family run restaurant that gives you great quality of food.
Florence teases your senses with the smells of pizza, dolci and the like. Once you decide on what place to eat at your are overwhelmed with new flavors that fill the air. Why not try them all? Buon Appetito!
