  • Parks and gardens are prevalent all over the city of Florence. They are places to rest, to lay out on a cozy blanket, to have a picnic. When you are walking all day, you will be grateful to find one of these gardens to rest your feet. Giardino dell'Orticoltura is a free garden to enter that is located near Piazza della Liberta. This garden has many events and markets during the spring, summer and autumn seasons. With flower markets, antique markets as well it is always a great stop. There is also a playground for the kiddies to play on while you wander through the flower market. There are many more gardens and parks than that are listed here.

Parco delle Cascine is a famous park that is located west of the city center. It is a large open green area with tables and shade from the summer sun. There is a splendid swimming pool in the park which is a hot spot for the locals to cool off in the summer months.

Giardino dell'Iris is a sight to see during the month of May when the flowers are in full bloom. Located next to Piazzale Michelangelo it is a easy to reach and with great views to match. The most popular destination for gardens is the Boboli Gardens. It is the very fancy and vast backyard of Palazzo Pitti. You will have to pay to enter this masterpiece but it is worth it. Especially during the first days of spring, when the flowers start peaking their colorful heads into the Tuscan sunlight. Each park and garden has a history and are taking very good care of. Enjoy a great day of sight-seeing then take a nice rest in one of the Florence's lovely parks.
