Three partners, Andrea, Paolo, and Fabrizi took over this well-worn old shoe of a place in 2005, one of the only remaining palazzi on this block between the Pitti Palace and Ponte Vecchio. The inn's star is the flower-bedecked, sun-kissed terrace offering a 360-degree vista over the Boboli Gardens, the Oltrarno rooftops, and (beyond a sea of antennas) the monumental heart of Florence. Return visitors book months in advance for the homey rooms that have tiny bathrooms and old tiled floors. Street-side accommodations have double-paned windows that really do block the noise, and the worn, dark wood lacquer furniture is pleasantly unassuming.

hotel staff were very helpful. the roof top restaurant had real Tuscon cooking and a million $ view. We would eat there even if not staying at hotel. We will do both on our next visit!!...
