- Cuisines: French, Italian
NileGuide Expert tip:
Although the menu and prices at this most French of bistros may seem stuffy, expect Brazilian hospitality
Description:
If you are in the mood for dining in an intimate setting, try this cozy restaurant located inside the home of the d'Acamporas. At this dining room cum art gallery, chef Zeca and his wife will welcome you for an extraordinary "home-cooked" meal. The talented and experienced chef takes his classic French and Italian training and uses fresh local ingredients to serve up his favorite dishes. There is no set menu but there is always a selection of salads, such as the mango salad with greens and fresh crabmeat. Main courses can be trés French, such as the confit de canard or a dish made with fresh local seafood, like the catch of the day and some local oysters or prawns in a bisque sauce served on a bed of Moroccan couscous. Of course no good meal is complete without a dessert; you better hope that on the day you go, Zeca is serving his scrumptious chocolate tort with pecans and crème anglaise. The restaurant also has a fantastic wine list with over 400 labels, including everything from an outrageous R$1000 (US$500/£135) bottle of Barolo Riserva Villero 1997 to many affordable options in the R$60-R$100 (US$30-US$50/£8-£14) range.
