  • Take a step back, a flight up, and let Florida Keys truly take your breath away. Air tours give you views you'd otherwise never see, and even provide an exciting team-building activity or reward for incentive groups as well as special occasions. Where else can you see a bird's eye view of an island chain strung together with more than 40 bridges?

Marathon's Island Hoppers helicopter tours offers an expanded menu of aerial adventures. Located at the Marathon Airport, 9850 Overseas Highway, Island Hoppers offers charters and sightseeing tours including the new Scenic Shoreline Flight and Lunch at Cabbage Key. The tour lifts off from Marathon Airport and soars over the azure waters along the middle Keys and Islamorada before heading on an adventure over the backcountry of the Everglades and Ten Thousand Islands for lunch at the Cabbage Key Inn at Pine Island Sound, Fla. Total tour time is approximately 4.5 hours, including lunch.

Shorter adventures also are available, such as a one-hour Key West Adventure to see the Conch Republic from a bird's-eye perspective, and a Keys Discovery Tour over the Seven Mile Bridge, Pigeon Key and the waters around Marathon, Bahia Honda and Big Pine Key.

Seventy miles west of the 4-mile by 2-mile island of Key West, adrift in the languid waters of the Gulf of Mexico, lies pristine Dry Tortugas National Park. The remote park is the home of Fort Jefferson, a majestic Civil War-era fortification believed to be the largest brick structure in the Western Hemisphere.

The only relatively quick way to reach the unique park and fort is by seaplane in a 40-minute jaunt. Seaplanes of Key West, operating out of Key West International Airport since 1996, carries passengers over the blue waters surrounding the Florida Keys for an intriguing half-day or full-day trip.
