An influx of chefs trained in Europe and honed in serious foodie towns like New York City has given Fort Lauderdale a five-star restaurant scene to envy. Here are a few places where the food is superb, the wine lists long and the atmosphere luxurious. A great place to start your Fort Lauderdale fine dining experience is at Jackson's Steakhouse. Located adjacent to the heart of downtown Fort Lauderdale on sophisticated Las Olas Boulevard, Jackson's Steakhouse carries on a tradition of a great American steakhouse. Jackson's is reminiscent in style of a private men's club with its rich mahogany paneling, high beamed ceilings, brass trim, marble accents and warm fabrics. The spectacular setting befits the classic steakhouse menu. All steaks and chops are USDA PRIME, the Maine lobster and the seafood are always the freshest and generous in size.
Another must-visit is Canyon. Arguably one the best restaurants in Fort Lauderdale, Canyon provides gourmet southwestern fare for diners with a distinguished palate. Their "no reservations policy" assures an equal opportunity dining experience for tourist or local alike, but if you don't show up before 7 pm, be prepared to wait the requisite 45 minutes to an hour for a table. The food is well worth it, and the prickly pear margaritas are as delicious (and strong) as they sound.
For upscale Italian dining, head over to Casa D' Angelo. Listed among the nation's top restaurants by some critics, this outstanding Italian restaurant features more than the usual pasta selections. Applying itself successfully to such options as veal roasted in a wood-burning oven, seafood treated to delicate Italian spices and, of course, exemplary pastas, Casa D' Angelo also features a notable wine list. Don't be put off by the location. Casa D' Angelo is located along near a strip of shops along a busy highway. Inside, however, are cozy quarters with a romantic intimacy. If you're seeking something more, a meal that not only satisfies but intrigues, then check out these Fort Lauderdale five-star restaurants.
