Description:

  • Frederick's oldest standing house is one of America's finest examples of German Colonial architecture. Built in 1756 by the Brunner family, who named it for their homeland in Germany, it has stone walls more than 2 feet thick, hand-hewn beams of native oak pinned together with wooden pegs, a vaulted cellar and chimney, and a perfectly preserved five-plate jamb stove. Guided tours are given throughout the day. Oktoberfest is celebrated in mid-October.
