Nora Barnacle's House

Nora Barnacle's House - Galway

  • Description:

    • Nora Barnacle, the wife of renowned Dublin writer James Joyce, lived here as a child. In 1904, she eloped with Joyce: he was later to claim that he had "made an honest woman out of her". Joyce visited this house in 1909 and 1912 and wrote poetry and articles about Galway city and its people. The house is now a private museum and is open to the public from May through September, but can be viewed at other times of the year by appointment.
