Getting There

By Train -- The Garmisch-Partenkirchen Bahnhof lies on the major Munich-Weilheim-Garmisch-Mittenwald-Innsbruck rail line, with frequent connections in all directions. Twenty trains per day arrive from Munich (trip time: 1 hr., 22 min.). For information and schedules, call tel. 01805/996633. Mountain rail service to several plateaus and the Zugspitze is offered by the Bayerische Zugspitzbahn at Garmisch (tel. 08821/7970).

By Bus -- Both long-distance and regional buses through the Bavarian Alps are provided by RVO Regionalverkehr Oberbayern, Finkenstrasse 3, in Garmisch-Partenkirchen (tel. 08821/948274).

By Car -- Access is via the A95 Autobahn from Munich; exit at Eschenlohe.

Visitor Information

Contact the Verkehrsamt, Richard-Strauss-Platz 2 (tel. 08821/180700). It's open Monday to Saturday 8am to 6pm, and Sunday and holidays 10am to noon.

Getting Around

An unnumbered municipal bus services the town, depositing passengers at Marienplatz or the Bahnhof, from which you can walk to all centrally located hotels. This free bus runs daily every 15 minutes from 6am to 8pm.
