Geneva Outdoor Activities

  • The Best of NileGuide
  • The first thing anyone would want to do outdoors in Geneva is take a Swiss boat cruise on the placid alpine Lake Geneva in any season as there are indoor facilities as well as the open decks. The boat cruise on the Rhône is another great experience for getting fresh air and see nature up close.

Geneva's lakefront is a major attraction for all types of outdoor activities such as biking, running, skating, or just slowly promenading with the locals. Explore, exercise or relax is the 21-acre Eaux-Vives Park at the far end of the Lake promenade. For all kinds of water sports there is the Tropical Corner who rents equipment and organizes water activities such as wind surfing, skin diving, water skiing, and more.

For swimming there is the Piscine de Varembé and the Geneva Beach pool. Further away near Montreux, at Le Bouveret you will find the extensive multi-water sports facility of Aquaparc.

For easy hiking, go to the woods of the Bois de la Batie, the 20-acre forest with a paddling pool, challenging playground, a river and a small zoo. You will also find restaurants available while you explore.

For more serious hikes, you can take the cable car up to La Salève right next to Geneva city where there are many trails. You can hike back down or take the cable car to the city. If you have more time, take an excursion to nearby Chamonix, France at the foot of Mont Blanc where there are endless hiking trails and a true alpine experience
