Take home some souvenirs or more high-end items. The clothing, crafts and collectibles of Glasgow's shopping will get your suitcase bulging.
The Monorail record store is located within the vegan restaurant/bar called Mono, which boasts a relaxing atmosphere thanks to a glass cupola that creates an airy light space combined with sofas, basket chairs, wooden tables, and potted plants. This independent record store has an extensive range of contemporary independent CDs and vinyl records from home and abroad, second-hand stock and re-issues of rare lost classics. It sells music from up-and-coming local artists as well as word renowned groups.
Established in Edinburgh in 1981, Cruise Ltd is the mecca for high-end fashionistas. At this designer boutique store, labels sold here include Fendi, Gucci, Dolce&Gabanna, Westwood, Aramni and so much more. The chain shop features its standard white walls and minimalist surroundings. Shop for your denim at Cruise Jeans on 223 Ingram Street. Be ready to splurge, not even the sales items are all that cheap. Keep that credit card close!
Geoffrey (Tailor) Highland Crafts Ltd. (GTHC) is a family business making kilts run by Geoffrey and Lorna Nicholsby. It is a retailer of kilts as well, and they have kilts for all clans as well as some 21st century designs. GTHC also run 'The Tartan Weaving Mill and Exhibition' next to Edinburgh Castle. A unique opportunity to view their cloth in the making.
A must stop on your shopping excursions. The Starry Starry Night vintage shop sells glorious antique pieces, from Victorian ball gowns and twenties and thirties cocktail dresses to retro accessories like feather boas, stockings, gloves, handbags, ribbons and laces. Even tuxedos, kilts, tweed jackets, cardigans with genuine embroidery and party frocks and dinner suits. Don't forget to peruse the various costumes and jewelries.
