- Food fit for a king is served at this upmarket central restaurant. Amber Regent has a sumptuous and elaborate decor, almost suggesting that you are dining in an exclusive club. However, despite the veneer of sophistication, the atmosphere is always lively. There's no such thing as a quiet night here-it's always packed so remember to book. This is one of the more expensive Chinese restaurants in town but it's worth paying a little extra for such a high standard of culinary excellence. They specialize in seafood dishes but also create imaginative recipes like sliced venison in mandarin sauce and something slightly odder involving ostrich.

Like many of the reviews we were no.1 fans of the amber regent! Best food for miles! Had christmas dinner there 4 years in a row. However, last Christmas was a terrible let down....
