Description:
Evoking a Moorish fortress complete with a crenellated roofline, a crowning dome, geometric tile work, and the suggestion of a minaret, this legendary hotel is a good choice. It was built by Duke San Pedro de Galatino in 1910 in a secluded spot just a 10-minute walk from the Alhambra. The private rooms don't live up to the drama of the public areas. Most units are spacious and quite comfortable, but a few small ones are in need of restoration. Ask for one with a balcony opening onto a view of the city of Granada, but avoid the court rooms, whose windows lack double-glazing.
