Asador de Castilla

Description:

  • In the Cathedral district, this longtime favorite is on a small square near the old town hall (Ayuntamiento). It's an authentic Castilian asador (barbecue) restaurant patronized by many of the city's leading politicians, journalists, and Andalusian families celebrating rites of passage. It is behind a solid stone facade, with medieval coats of arms and stone carvings. The chefs are famous locally for their roast lamb with herbs, their refried beans with strips of Iberian ham, and for their various guisos caseros, which are homemade stews, mostly meat, but also containing plenty of fresh vegetables. Even though Granada is inland, the chefs also manage to serve fresh fish.
