Parador de Granada

Description:

  • Even if you can't afford to stay at this luxurious parador, the most famous in Spain, consider heading here for a tranquil retreat after you've battled the tourist hordes in the Alhambra itself. The dining room is spacious, the service is polite, and you gaze upon the rose gardens and a distant view of the Generalife. Lunch is the best time to dine here, because the terrace overlooking the palace is open then. A light outdoor lunch of sandwiches and salads can be ordered on the a la carte menu if you're not up for heavy Spanish food in the heat of the day. The cuisine is competent in every way, although at no point rising to any culinary achievement. When in doubt, order the Andalusian specialties rather than the Spanish national dishes, as most of the chefs are Andalusian.
