Palacio de Comares

Description:

  • On your tour of the Alhambra, Palacio de Comares comes after Palacio del Mexuar (Mexuar Palace). It's where the Sultan carried out his official role as ruler and military commander-in-chief. It was here, in the Sala de los Embajadores (Hall of the Ambassadors), that he met representatives of the encroaching Christian kingdoms and made deals to keep Granada independent and Muslim. The hall has a wonderful wooden lattice-work, domed ceiling and the walls are covered in tile and stucco, decorated with Arabic inscriptions.
